What is the difference between drinking water and purified water? Drinking water (Potable-Water): usually tap water supply company or tap water, also known as raw water, its quality must meet the national standard GB5749-85 "drinking water health standards." Purified Water: Pharmaceutical water prepared by distillation, ion exchange, reverse osmosis, or other suitable methods for raw water, without any additives. Purified water can be used as preparation of common pharmaceutical preparations of the solvent or test water, not for the preparation of injection, using ion exchange, reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration and other non-heat treatment of purified water is also known as deionized water. The purified water prepared by distillation with specially designed distillers is also known as distilled water.
